The Botanical Garden is located in Puerto de la Cruz in the district La Paz at the Avenida Marqués Villanueva and the Calle Retama. The official name of the all-day open area is "Jardín de Aclimatation de La Orotava".

Originally founded by King Charles III. to acclimatise tropical plants at the local climate. This was successful on Tenerife but not in continental Spain.

There are more than 200 different species of plants and trees from all over the world, and also a small lily pond with turtles and a fountain.
