At the southwest coast near Arico is located Poris de Abona, a small fishing village, where appartment- and bungalow estates are built up for sun-hungry tourists.
At the horizon are rotating numerous windmills.
The town itself with its rocky coastline offers better conditions for anglers and fishermen then for seaside tourists, although there is also
a small beach with pebbles.
Who is looking for a sand beach goes on a little further on the opposite side of the bay to Punta de Abona, where the lighthouse stands.
Above the wide sandbeach is located here a church on a large Plaza, surrounded by some residential houses.
